Professor Michael Evie Ram, a leading author from a Middle Eastern country, says that using pomegranate juice and dates together can protect us from heart disease. Pomegranates and dates contain “phenolic antioxidants”.

They work differently. The most important ingredient in pomegranate juice is plant-based polyphenolic antioxidants that slow down the body’s oxidation process. And it lowers the oxidative pressure, while the palms contain antioxidants that prevent the oxidation of low-density lipoproteins, also called bad cholesterol.

Professor Evie Ram, while working on arterial cells in laboratory cultures, performed experiments on mice that had high cholesterol levels and tested a mixture of pomegranate juice and palm oil on them.

According to a report published in the journal Food and Function, the experiment showed that the use of this mixture reduced the oxidative pressure on the walls of the arteries by 3%, while the amount of cholesterol in the arteries was reduced by 2%. These “winger antioxidants” found in dates also accelerate the separation of cholesterol from arterial cells that come in contact with fats or lipids.

Professor Evie Ram says that it is beneficial to use dates and pomegranates together but if we grind and use palm kernels, it is more beneficial.
